CANONICAL TYPE REFERENCE

PaperWeight

Paper basis weight (mass per area), with preserved provenance for US lb-at-basis specs that aren't representable as a single canonical scalar.

rawFloat!

The stored numeric value. Interpretation depends on unit — gsm if kind == GSM, US pounds-per-ream if kind == POUNDS_AT_BASIS.

gsmFloat!

The weight expressed as g/m². Canonical for arithmetic-equivalence.

valueFloat!

The weight re-expressed in any supported unit. For US conversions the basis must be supplied alongside kind.

Arguments (1)
unitPaperWeightUnitInput!

The unit to re-express the value in. Use `{kind: POUNDS_AT_BASIS, basis: <BASIS>}` for US conversions.

The unit the weight was recorded in. basis is null for a weight recorded in gsm.

The weight as people should see it. Metric shows gsm. Basis weight keeps a weight's own basis sheet (80 lb cover stays cover) and uses the preference's basis only for a weight recorded without one. Read raw and unit from the result.

Arguments (1)
preferencePaperWeightUnitInput!

The display preference, usually Settings › Units: `{kind: GSM}` for metric, or `{kind: POUNDS_AT_BASIS, basis: <fallback>}` for basis weight.
